Photos of a lush old growth forest fill the giant video billboards surrounding Yonge Dundas Square. Verdant trees and moss-covered logs blanket the multi-storey screens, adding a green tint to the dusky sky around us. In front of us, the forest covers a digital billboard the size of 200 King-sized beds. To our left, the forest wraps around a curved corner billboard 26 feet tall and 188 feet long. To our right, the forest blankets half a dozen video screens, some on posts in the square, others like a patchwork of movie screens mounted on the sides of buildings.

The images disappear, and are replaced by other forest photos. Slender trees rise from the fern-covered forest floor and reach beyond the upper edges of the screens.

Mossy, craggily bark blankets the entire screen in front of us.

We soar over the tops of evergreen trees. Soon, the stands of trees give way to dry grey land littered with desiccated branches.

A dry, dirt hillside blanketed with shard-like sticks and branches surrounds us. Aerial photos show swathes of grey, clearcut land surrounded by lush green forests, and pens of cut logs floating in bodies of blue water.

Men with dark skin tones carry lengths of lumber balanced on their heads, and pull logs from murky water.
