The first-ever musical produced, created and performed by Asian Pacific Islanders (APIs), Prison Dancer tells the fictionalized story of how one of the world's first YouTube viral videos -- Thriller uploaded in 2007 -- came to be.
Featuring the most memorable and inspiring LGBTQ+ protagonist, Prison Dancer is ultimately a story of redemption and how a prisoner named Lola brings purpose and joy to a group of inmates through song and dance.

Boasting experience in film, television, and advertising, our CSA Winner is a proud Filipino-Canadian storyteller. His recent television credits include writing/directing a film for the NBA called 'Shorty,' directing on season 29 of 'This Hour Has 22 Minutes,' and directing two episodes of the upcoming 'Circuit Breakers' for Apple TV. Additionally, he has written an episode of the hit comedy 'Son of a Critch.' Currently, he co-showruns season 8 of the popular dance series 'The Next Step' for CBBC and YTV. His ten-part musical series 'Topline,' which he serves as creator, writer, director, and composer, premiered to rave reviews on CBC Gem on March 31, 2022. He is currently the showrunner of Season 9 of The Next Step as well as an upcoming Kpop musical TV series for the BBC.
